German law requires these notices; the German version at /de/impressum/ is the binding one.
In short: this site sets no cookies, measures no visitors and carries no advertising. Data reaches third parties only where music is embedded — Spotify, YouTube and Bandcamp.
The site is hosted by Strato AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. Opening a page creates technical log entries there — IP address, time, page requested, browser type. They are needed to serve the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and are deleted by Strato after a short period. We do not analyse them.
Nothing is stored on your device. There are no analytics or advertising tools, no contact form and no newsletter.
The fonts (Fraunces, Inter) are served from the same server as the site. No connection to Google is made and no IP address is sent there.
The front page embeds players from Spotify (Spotify AB, Sweden),
YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) and Bandcamp
(Bandcamp Inc., USA). These players load when the page opens, not only
when you press play. The provider therefore learns your IP address and which page you
came from, and may set its own cookies. The YouTube videos use
youtube-nocookie, which transmits less — but not nothing.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: a page about music lives on being able to hear the recordings straight away. Data may be transferred to the USA (Bandcamp, Google). If you would rather not, please do not open the page, or block the embeds in your browser.
The icons in the footer lead to Spotify, Bandcamp and Instagram. You only leave this site when you click them; from there, the provider’s own terms apply.
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. A message to info@thorthorvaldsson.com is enough.
